There has recently been a breakout of Kossacks that have been "digging" stories up using Digg. For those that don't know what Digg is, here is a description.
From Wikipedia -
Digg is a website made for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the Internet, by submitting links and stories, and voting and commenting on submitted links and stories. Voting stories up and down is the site's cornerstone function, respectively called digging and burying. Many stories get submitted every day, but only the most dugg stories appear on the front page.
So how important is Digg to getting our DailyKos diaries out to the rest of the world? How about this important.
One website wrote an entry about the upcoming Alice in Wonderland movie. The entry was posted to the Digg and ended up on the front page. What was the resulting traffic for making it to Digg's front page - 20,000 unique visitors in 2 hours.
And the traffic just continued after the initial surge and was even picked up by other sites spreading the information further and further out.
In the recent Diggnation podcast, which discusses some of the top stories on Digg, it was mentioned how Best Buy probably bought themselves a world of hurt when a customer complaint was "dugg" to the top of Digg's front page.
Now DailyKos already has tons of traffic and visitors, so one may ask how much more is Digg going to add to it? My answer is "Who Cares". If it adds even a handful of additional readers, then it is worth it.
Remember that part of the success of the Obama campaign has been the use of the internet and its ability to get information out there. Using Digg is one of those tools that can spread our message, so use it!
